Cat, who ran into burning building five times to save her babies, is honored

Parental love is the purest form of love that one gets to witness, parents would do everything just to keep their children safe even if that means risking their own life.

One cat mom put herself into a deadly situation when she saved her little kittens from a burning building.

After firefighters came to the garage fire in Brooklyn they saw the cat mom carrying the little kittens one by one out of the flaming building.

She got in and out of the building 5 times until all her babies were taken out and then she touched each of their noses to make sure they were alive.

After the heroic rescue the cat who later was named Scarlett collapsed.

According to the reports of an account on imgur firefighter David Giannelli noticed the brave cat saving her kittens.

“Scarlett herself had been severely burned in the process of pulling her kittens from the fire. Her eyes were blistered shut, her ears and paws burned, and her coat highly singed,” the post read.

“The majority of her facial hair had been burnt away. After saving the kittens she was seen to touch each of her kittens with her nose to ensure they were all there and alive, as the blisters on her eyes kept her from being able to see them, and then she collapsed unconscious.”

The firefighters of Brooklyn managed to extinguish the fire and get Scarlett and her little babies the medical attention they needed, sadly one of the babies didn’t make it but others got the treatment and also found their forever homes.

This heroic act of the cat attracted a lot of media attention and she even became the subject of several books written about her including “Scarlett Saves her Family” and “The Bravest Cat”.

The cat mom got adopted by a family in Brooklyn and lived with them 12 long years until she passed away in 2008.

She even had an award named after her by  The North Shore Animal League, which treated Scarlett and her kittens, to honor other heroic animals.

What an amazing and inspiring story.
