Kind people that love and take for animals are rare, but once in a while we came across heartwarming stories when the kind human gets ‘’paid back’’ for his love and from the animals themselves.
Mario Ejis 54, is a worker at the Rotterdam’s Diergaarde Blijdorp zoo in the Netherlands, and spent his life taking care of animals there.
After years of working in that zoo, animals became his best friends, he loved and took care of them always being sure they are fed well and their cages are clean.
Unfortunately the kind man got diagnosed with cancer, and had to retire from his work leaving his best friends behind.
Mario’s condition kept getting worse, to the point he was unable to walk or speak properly, in those dark times he asked for a last wish: to say one last goodbye to his beloved animals that were an important part of his life.
The charity organization Ambulance Wish Foundation, took upon themselves to grant the man his wish and transported him in a specialized car to the zoo, to meet his friends for the last time.
Mario visited all animals he worked with, and when he reached the giraffes something truly great took place.
The long necked animals took turns putting their heads out of the window and giving Mario sweet gentle kisses, feeling the pain their lovely friend was in.
“These animals recognized him, and felt that (things aren’t) going well with him,” said Kees Veldboer, the founder of the Ambulance Wish Foundation.
“(It was) a very special moment. You saw him (Mario) beaming,” said Veldboer.
Mario meets his co-workers as well, and after visiting the place he worked for a long time, he looked at ease.
Wish Foundation did a marvelous job granting Mario’s wish, the organization was in fact founded to help terminally ill patients seeing a place of significance one last time.
Organization was first established in Netherlands but now it’s in Uk as well and has more than 1500 volunteers.
Soon after Mario’s story went viral in social media, a lot of users took their time to thank the organization and the lovely animals for showing compassion for the kind hearted man.
One person commented: “Animals are the most beautiful and ethereal beings. They see, feel and touch our souls in unimaginable ways. The depth of their senses is a gift to those who unconditionally love and respect these amazing creatures gifted to us by our magnificent Creator. Rest In Eternal Peace, Mario. You were their Hero.”
We hope you knew you value, our dear Mario.
