Man passed away after losing beloved four-legged friend of 14 years

Dogs are our best friends, they usually offer comfort to us and for the elderly people they are great companions and keep them going.

Ken Pendagraft, an 80 year old, had a reason to wake up in the morning for 14 years thanks to his dog.

But the beloved pooch of the old man got sick and the neighbours offered their help, what happened after shows us how much connected we are with our lovely pets.

Ken and his 16 years old dog Zack lived in a mobile home community in Hemet, California, the neighbours said the man was friendly but mostly kept to himself.

That was until Zack got ill and the poor men didn’t have enough money to send him to a vet.

Neighbor Carol Burt said: “Ken was in tears …He said, ‘I don’t know what to do. I have no money to take him to a vet’.”

Carol took his story to social media hoping someone will offer their help to the poor old man.

Elaine Seamans, founder of the At-Choo Foundation, a rescue organization that helps dogs in need of medical care answered her appeal.

Elaine did everything she could for Zack who got diagnosed with  “glaucoma, severe arthritis and a 6/6 heart murmur, making any surgery impossible.”

Unfortunately the pooch couldn’t make it, and Elain shared a post on Facebook staining: “Prof. Zack’s loving papa was with him as his soul was released from his body that had stopped working for him. He is now feeling like a puppy again and doing all things happy and joyful.”

But the heartbreak doesn’t end here, At-Choo foundation posted a message from Ken thanking all his well wishers who had sent cards and messages of condolences but said he was experiencing a “void of loneliness.”

Not long after Zack passed away, Ken had a heart attack and passed away too.

This is such a sad story but at least they got along with each other for the past 14 years.
